If you are on the north shore of the Dominican Republic I can highly recommend Northern Coast Diving on Pedro Clisante, Sosua for your dives. It is a very professional outfit, doing 3 dives a day and offering night dives and trips to the awesome caverns in Cabrera. See the site here and tell them Scuba man sent you.

Really want to know if the sponges and life is “THAT” good in the Dominican republic?
Please advise. Thanks Frank.

Hi Frank,
The answer is yes……BUT, (you must have seen a “but” coming) In the normally overdived, areas where “everyone” goes of course the signs of wear and tear are there. Find a good dive school and book onto the first dive of the day. They normally take certified divers to the slighly further away, less dived sites in the morning. The condition of the sponges and whip corals etc in general are pretty good in the lesser dived sites. There is also good fish life on most sites, though I rarely seen large fish.
If you are going to the North of the island, let me know and I will gladly give you some suggestions for sites to see. I will also be covering some Dominican Dives in this blog later.
Thanks for the post. SCUBA MAN. Paul Bradbury.
